About the Role
In this role you will work with cross-functional teams to support a Linux-based automotive platform in a virtualized environment, owning Linux Vehicle platform enablement across customer programs. You will handle integration and maintenance (upgrades) of the Linux kernel and kernel platform components, and collaborate with global platform, kernel and virtualization teams to deliver stable releases. You will also drive technical discussions, design reviews and onboarding for kernel topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate and maintain (upgrade) the Linux kernel and kernel platform components.
- Work with different kernel build strategies (Yocto-based and Bazel-based flows), kernel configuration and version alignment.
- Perform kernel bring-up, boot validation and early boot debugging in stand-alone and virtualized environments.
- Develop device drivers, services and applications on the Linux platform for automotive virtualization use cases.
- Customize Linux Vehicle builds for headless and security-related distributions.
- Collaborate with global platform, kernel and virtualization teams to deliver stable releases.
- Drive technical discussions, design reviews and team ramp-up on kernel topics.
Eligibility / Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience, OR
- Master’s degree in the above fields and 1+ year of experience, OR a PhD in the above fields.
- 2+ years of academic or work experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java or Python.
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of operating system concepts – scheduling, memory management and device drivers.
- Hands-on experience with debug tools such as GDB, JTAG debugger, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Experience with Linux kernel internals and automotive virtualization use cases.
